Eligibility Requirements

Membership is open to any man or woman who can prove lineal descent (male or female) who, as of April 19, 1775, was

  • a resident of the American colonies and joined the Royal Standard prior to the Treaty of Separation of 1783, or otherwise demonstrated loyalty to the Crown and settled in territory remaining under the rule of the Crown,
  • a soldier who served in an American Loyalist Regiment and was disbanded in Canada, or
  • a member of the Six Nations of either the Grand River or the Bay of Quinte Reserve who is descended from one whose migration was similar to that of other Loyalists.

  • Fled from persecution north on foot with 9 children from Pennsylvania to Montreal, 1778
  • Supported 2 sons fighting with Butler’s Rangers from Fort Niagara

  • Ardent Loyalist
  • Assisted the British Navy at their Staten Island base
  • Imprisoned at Fort Frederick, Frederick, Maryland in 1777
  • Indicted as a Loyalist by the New Jersey Council of Safety in May 1778 to face land confiscation
